Moving the Guild: Changing Servers

My World of Warcraft guild, which has been on one of the original sets of servers, changed servers last week.  The server we were on has died.  By died I mean, there is barely anyone there, and most of the people that are there, are on the opposing faction (damn alliance!) and outnumber us to a point that some things we try to do become impossible.  There's supposedly three thousand players on that server, and most of them are the alliance.  So we moved, to a NON-roleplaying server (finally) and it's also a server that the horde outnumbers the alliance on.

It was sad and exciting at the same time.  I don't want my friends on the old server to feel abandoned, but at the same time, I am a much more active player than most of the people we left behind, and when there is literally NO ONE around to interact with even in just a chatting capacity, the game becomes pretty much not fun pretty fast.  There are times in life when you have to do what's better for you, you know?  Besides, most of the time I don't even interact with people in the game in a way other than just chatting with them, usually in guild chat.  So now I have to talk to those people via RealID.  That's not so bad.  I also still have high level characters on that server, so if they NEED me I am still available for them there.

I don't know why Blizzard doesn't just combine some servers, or transfer everyone on a particular server to another one and close out the server that is now empty.  I guess the opportunity to squander every last cent from subscribers that they can is there, and they will take full advantage since their subscription numbers are going down.  HOWEVER they still have MILLIONS of subscribers, and I don't mean two million, I mean like, 7 million.  That is a LOT.  Maybe their subscribers are canceling accounts because it seems they are money mongering?  Who knows, but I wish they would go free to play, that would make the game a lot friendlier on my wallet.

Yesterday was Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, granddads, great-granddads, uncles and other father-figures out there in the world.
Due to an incredibly heart-breaking loss earlier in the year, I don't have anyone to get a gift for anymore.  So even if your kids got you something ugly or useless, appreciate it, and appreciate them.  Because they love you or they wouldn't get you anything at all, and be grateful that you're here to accept it.

Happy Father's Day to my grandfather up in heaven
